Alumni and Board member Angelica Raaen during a spring migratory Bird Count.

The annual Christmas Bird Count and the Spring Migratory Bird Count is conducted each winter and spring in collaboration with the Cortes Island Museum & Archives and Bird Studies Canada. Alumni and youth are mentored in bird ecology, identification and calls, and binocular use. The diverse ecosystems in the Children’s Forest cover Herbaceous & Woodland, Wetland and Mature Forest, and introduce participants to songbirds and seabirds.

Hark, who calls there?
