Monthly Forest Walks
Our monthly forest nature walks support the natural curiosity, wonder and joyfulness of children in nature. Senses are activated – owl eyes, deer ears, wolf nose, snake tongue, racoon fingers, and a forest heart.

Our walks are led by children’s hearts and enthusiasm, and are purposefully open-ended in the spirit of unscheduling children, with additional scavenger hunts and seasonal focussed activities. Children’s eyes are the first to discover red-legged frogs (blue-listed), coho and cuthroat trout fry(blue-listed) , mushroom fruiting bodies, and the infinite glorious discoveries the natural world offers. The walks are also designed to encourage youth leadership and stewardship, with our field book documenting discoveries, forest haikus and riddles.
All are welcome to join in on the first Sunday of each month, providing those who come bring a youthful curiosity. The nature walks started over 10 years -rain, sun or snow, with many exhuberant youth, families and visitors participating since the beginning. Join us one Sunday and rediscover your child-heart.
